Work for peace of mind

Through the activities of the Centre for Peace in Housing, the security, peace and well-being of the living environment are strengthened and conflicts are prevented at an early stage. It improves and supports residents' interaction, community spirit and participation. Often, the experience of peace of mind requires each resident to be considerate of his or her neighbours and to try to act in a way that does not disturb each other.

Peace of mind is a broader concept than just silence or relations between neighbours. It consists of a number of elements that affect the well-being and comfort of residents in a residential community. Peace in housing is often used to describe a peaceful and harmonious living environment in which residents can live and work without disturbance or conflict. However, it is important to understand that each resident has his or her own perception and experience of peace in housing.

Peace of mind is often said to include good neighbourly relations and a community atmosphere. Positive relations and openness between residents provide the basis for a smooth living environment. Common events such as neighbourhood barbecues or community meetings often foster a sense of community and interaction between residents and provide a good basis for building peace.

A neighbourly relationship is a close relationship. You may know more things about your neighbour's life that you would like to know. Proximity and neighbourhood in many forms, whether it is in an apartment building, a terraced house or a detached house, brings with it conflict and conflict. It is practically impossible to avoid conflicts, but they can be prevented and dealt with. Conflict management and resolution are an essential element of peace of mind. Dealing with them quickly and effectively helps to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the housing community.

Overall, peace of mind is a multi-dimensional concept. Good peace of mind creates the basis for a safe, comfortable and smooth living environment where each resident can feel welcome and valued as part of the community. The work of the Centre for Residential Peace includes resident training and resident information, as well as support, advice, mediation and counselling for community-based housing.
